Audi Certified Pre-Owned Checklist (Oct 2026)

Audi Certified pairs a history screen and inspection with 1 year/20,000 miles after the factory 4-year/50,000 plan. Here is the Oct 2026 checklist.

Audi Certified Pre-Owned Checklist (Oct 2026)

As of October 2026, an Audi Certified pre-owned car is generally five model years or newer with no more than 60,000 miles, a qualifying vehicle history report, and a multi-point inspection plus road test at an Audi dealer. Coverage is a 1-year/20,000-mile Certified Limited Warranty that starts when the 4-year/50,000-mile new-vehicle warranty ends, or at purchase if that new warranty is already gone. A history report is part of the program. The trap is paying a CPO premium for a car whose factory years are already spent, then getting only twelve months of Certified coverage.

On Sunday, October 18, 2026, I read Audi of America's Certified pre-owned Limited Warranty booklet (PDF hosted on nar.media.audi.com) and cross-checked eligibility language against Kelley Blue Book's Audi CPO program summary. AudiUSA.com shopping pages blocked automated fetches from this box, so I name those pages with today's date instead of linking them. Treat all of this as a snapshot as of Oct 18, 2026.

Eligibility and inspection

  • Age and miles: commonly described as five years or newer and 60,000 miles or fewer. Confirm the exact car on the Audi Certified site or with the selling dealer, because program cards change.
  • History screen: Audi's warranty booklet says a vehicle history report is run to exclude cars that miss CPO standards.
  • Inspection: a multi-point check of interior, exterior, engine bay and underbody, plus a road test, before the car is labeled Certified.
  • Only an authorized Audi dealer can retail the car as Certified. You cannot bolt certification onto a private-party purchase after the fact.

How the warranty clock actually runs

Audi's booklet for purchases on or after August 1, 2023 is clear. If any of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty (4 years/50,000 miles, whichever comes first) remains at sale, that coverage continues first. When it expires, the Certified Limited Warranty runs 1 year or 20,000 miles, whichever comes first. If the new-vehicle warranty is already exhausted, Certified coverage starts at purchase for that same 1 year/20,000 miles. Roadside assistance is included for the Certified period. Covered repairs under the booklet carry no deductible in the program summary I reviewed. For sales on or after August 1, 2023, transfer coverage as non-transferable unless Audi says otherwise in writing for your contract.

Work an example. A 2023 Audi that entered service in March 2023 still has new-vehicle coverage into March 2027 or 50,000 miles. Buy it Certified in October 2026 at 28,000 miles and you ride the factory warranty first, then the Certified year. Buy a 2021 car whose factory years ended in 2025 and your Certified year starts at purchase and ends about October 2027 or 20,000 miles later. Have the dealer write the in-service date on the order, and use our warranty start date on CARFAX post to cross-check.

Audi versus other luxury CPO programs

Our Mercedes-Benz certified checklist found a similar one-year Certified layer after a 4-year/50,000 factory plan, with a higher age cap. Our Volvo Certified checklist and BMW Certified checklist show how each brand's mile caps and roadside fine print differ. Audi's documented plus is the history-report gate before certification. That still is not a substitute for pulling your own report.

Check it anyway

Dealers pull history reports; dealers also sell the car. Our post on why a certified car still needs a CARFAX covers inspection blind spots. Pricing the report yourself

We're a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck, Experian or Audi. As of mid October 2026 a guest report is about $5.50, members pay about $4.50, and the bundle is near $6.75, against roughly $39.99 to $44.99 retail. Prices shift, so confirm at checkout. The Certified sticker price is separate; ask what premium you are paying versus a non-Certified twin with the same miles.
