A certified pre-owned Jeep comes with a 125-point inspection, a CARFAX report and one of three factory warranty tiers, and which tier you get matters more than the "certified" sticker. As of Oct 19, 2026, jeep.com lists CPOV (a 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty plus a 3-month/3,000-mile Extended Care Premium warranty), CPO Gold (12 months/12,000 miles) and CPO Go (3 months/3,000 miles). The powertrain clock starts on the date the Jeep was first sold new, so an older CPO Jeep has a lot less left than the number suggests. Ask which tier is on the window before you talk price.
This is Stellantis's program, the same one used for Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and FIAT, so most of what follows applies to those brands too. I read jeep.com's CPO page, the chrysler.com version, Stellantis's fcacertified.com site and the 2022 Stellantis press release that launched CPO Go, all on Oct 19, 2026. They don't all say the same thing, and I'll point out where they disagree.
Which Jeeps qualify
The fcacertified.com qualification list for a standard CPOV vehicle is under 75,000 miles, five model years old or newer, no frame damage, a clean title and no aftermarket accessories that compromise safety, emissions or operation. CPO Go stretches that to Jeeps six to 10 model years old and/or 75,001 to 120,000 miles, per the October 5, 2022 release. Stellantis's 125-point checklist starts with those same title and frame rules, then covers the drivetrain, brakes, steering, electrical, paint and the interior. None of the pages I read spell out the age and mileage window for CPO Gold, so if a dealer offers Gold, get the eligibility rules and the warranty booklet in writing.
What each tier covers
- CPOV -- the 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty runs from the original new-car sale date or 100,000 miles on the odometer, whichever comes first, plus the short Extended Care Premium coverage.
- CPO Gold -- a 12-month/12,000-mile Extended Care Premium limited warranty.
- CPO Go -- 3 months or 3,000 miles. The 2022 launch release called that coverage Maximum Care, with a $100 deductible, covering more than 5,000 parts and starting on the certified purchase date.
Do the math on the powertrain warranty. A 2022 Grand Cherokee first sold in late 2021 with 55,000 miles has roughly two years and 45,000 miles of powertrain coverage left in October 2026, not seven years. fcacertified.com also still describes a 5-year/100,000-mile Maximum Care warranty for CPOV, which doesn't match the 3-month Extended Care wording on jeep.com. Treat jeep.com and the dealer's printed contract as the current terms, and ask the dealer to show you which one applies. A deductible applies per covered repair visit on these plans.
The extras
Jeep's page lists 24-hour Sign-and-Go roadside help, up to $100 per occurrence, covering flat tires, fuel delivery, jump-starts, lockouts and towing. You get a three-month SiriusXM trial. Jeep's FAQ says the CPO coverage transfers to the next owner, with a $50 transfer fee in most states, and that dealers don't lease CPO Jeeps. Chrysler's page also mentions optional lifetime Certified Warranty Upgrades, which are a paid add-on, not part of the base deal.
One line in Jeep's FAQ deserves some skepticism. It cites Kelley Blue Book as saying a CPO vehicle costs about 1.8 times as much as a non-certified one. Jeep doesn't link the source, and I couldn't confirm it, so don't let anyone use that line as a reason the premium is fair. Compare the CPO price with the same Jeep's non-certified listings nearby, then decide what the warranty is worth to you.
Recalls and the CARFAX report
fcacertified.com says Stellantis requires dealers to finish all open safety recalls before a CPO vehicle is listed or sold, and then tells buyers to check anyway, because processes break down. Take that advice. Run the VIN on our Jeep recall check and confirm the build on our Jeep VIN decoder.
The included CARFAX report is good to have, and the program pairs it with the CARFAX Buyback Guarantee. It only shows what was reported, though. Off-road damage fixed at an independent shop, or trail rash repaired for cash, often never reaches any database. Our post on why a certified car still needs a history check explains the gaps, and it's worth reading before you assume the dealer caught everything.
Checklist at the dealer
- Get the tier in writing: CPOV, Gold or Go.
- Ask for the original in-service date to work out the remaining powertrain coverage.
- Ask for the signed 125-point inspection sheet.
- Look underneath for skid plate dents, a bent tie rod and fresh undercoating, especially on a Wrangler or Gladiator.
- Confirm the deductible and what's excluded.
If you're shopping a specific model, our used Grand Cherokee guide covers the trouble spots worth asking about.
CarVins sells CARFAX and AutoCheck reports as a licensed reseller and has no tie to CARFAX, AutoCheck, Experian or Stellantis. In mid October 2026, that meant about $5.50 for a guest report, about $4.50 for members and about $6.75 for both, while retail runs roughly $39.99 to $44.99. Confirm the total at checkout.
