Del Norte CU CARFAX Policy

I reviewed Del Norte Credit Union official auto-loan page for this November 6, 2026 guide. I found no named report-purchase mandate in that public material; unpublished underwriting conditions remain a question for the lender. So, use the points below to prepare a loan conversation, rather than treating this page as approval or a personal rate quote.

Ask Del Norte which report or title proof it wants

Del Norte does not name a mandatory borrower CARFAX purchase on the new and used auto loan page reviewed here. Ask a loan officer whether it obtains its own history report, accepts one from you or needs other title evidence for the VIN. The page lists 505-455-5228 and 877-818-3628. Keep the written answer with your purchase paperwork before you pay a deposit.

Read the assumptions behind the advertised rate

The disclosure says the advertised APR assumes a 36-month term, a $20,000 loan, a clean title, loan-to-value not above 125% and a FICO score of 760 or higher. It also lists a $37 processing fee. If your title is branded or your score differs, ask for a quote that reflects your case. Do not budget around a rate built on assumptions that do not fit your deal.

Check how age and mileage change the deal

The rate table separates newer model years from 2023 and older, and a footnote refers to vehicles 10 or more years old or over 100,000 miles. The first-time buyer tiers list caps such as a maximum loan amount, no luxury brands in Tier 1 and a 100,000-mile maximum, with 1% added for mileage over 100,000 in Tier 2. Ask how these rules apply to the exact car before you agree a price.

Price insurance and add-ons separately

The page points to TruStage insurance quotes and the disclosure mentions GAP and mechanical breakdown protection in its loan-to-value note. Ask for each product price and contract separately and whether it changes the loan-to-value calculation. Keep the shopping list short: a loan quote, an insurance quote and an inspection estimate for the same car. That makes the whole purchase easy to compare.

Send a concrete collateral question

Ask Del Norte Credit Union whether the proposed vehicle qualifies with its present title status, mileage, age and seller type. State any brand, existing lien or unusual registration history before asking about the report product. Our credit-union branded-title checklist helps organise that request. Ask how recent any history evidence must be. Look, a fake PDF can conceal an ownership gap while a genuine report may still omit an unreported repair. Keep the officer answer in the purchase file and get a new answer if the VIN changes.

Compare financing and ownership costs on separate sheets

The CFPB auto-loan resources explain how to compare borrowing, including APR, term and amount financed. Our loan-to-value explainer covers why a large advance relative to vehicle value matters even when a payment fits. Request a dated quote with fees and optional products listed separately. For a deal with an existing lien, our lien-payoff steps helps you ask who receives the money and who supplies the release.

Keep the inspection outside the credit decision

Financing approval leaves the condition of the car to be established separately. NYC used-car buying guidance recommends an independent mechanic, while the federal dealer Buyers Guide rule concerns dealer disclosures rather than a credit-union CARFAX mandate. Ask the inspector for immediate repairs and a written estimate. Put repairs, insurance and registration beside the loan quote to judge whether the whole purchase still works.

Line up the paperwork before the handover

Before you collect the car, confirm with Del Norte Credit Union which documents it needs from the seller, who holds the title and how the lien will be recorded. Ask how long funding takes once the file is complete, so you do not promise the seller a date the credit union cannot meet. Verify any change in payment instructions by calling a number you already know. Keep the bill of sale, title copy, inspection report and loan papers together in one folder.

We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck or Experian. Wholesale reports cost a few dollars; confirm current coverage and the total at checkout. A quiet report can miss unreported repairs. Keep the independent inspection even if the seller sends an impressive PDF.
