To check a Karma for recalls, run its VIN on NHTSA's recall look-up, because Karma Automotive only started selling the Revero in 2016, so every one of its cars sits well inside NHTSA's 15-year VIN window. When I pulled NHTSA's data on Oct 19, 2026, it listed four recalls on the 2018 Revero and one turn signal recall covering 2020-2022 Revero GT, GTS and GS-6 cars. Searching by model name is where people get tripped up, since NHTSA files the GS-6 under Revero GT and GTS, so a search for "GS-6" comes back empty.
This post is about the Karma Automotive cars built in California. The older 2012 Fisker Karma is a different maker in NHTSA's records, and our Fisker recall check covers its five campaigns.
Who Karma is
The Verge reported in 2021 that Karma was born in 2014 when China's Wanxiang Group bought most of Fisker Automotive's assets out of bankruptcy, named the new company after the Fisker Karma, and revived that car as the Revero. Business Insider says the Moreno Valley, California plant was finished in mid-2016, and that Karma sold the Revero at about $130,000 and, from 2019, the Revero GT at $144,800.
The GS-6 came in 2021 as a cheaper version of the same car. Per The Verge, it uses a BMW-sourced turbo three-cylinder and two electric motors for about 536 hp, with a 28-kWh battery good for up to 80 miles on electricity. An all-electric GSe-6 was announced at $79,900. I couldn't confirm how many GSe-6 cars actually reached buyers, and NHTSA's recall data has no entry under that name. As of June 2026, the Orange County Business Journal reported that Karma built 146 Reveros in 2025 and is shifting its focus to the Gyesera coupe this year. Production is tiny, which affects parts and service, as you'll see.
How to run a Karma VIN
Read the VIN off the base of the windshield and the door jamb, make sure both match the title, and type it into NHTSA's recall look-up. Our guide to checking recalls by VIN on NHTSA explains the results screens. NHTSA's vehicle database lists Karma models as Karma, Atlantic, Revero, Revero GT, GS-6, Kaveya and Gyesera, so a decoder should show one of those.
If you'd rather search by model and year, NHTSA's recall API works too, but the names matter. When I tried it, "REVERO" returned results only for 2018. "REVERO GT" returned results for 2020-2022, and "REVERO GTS" did the same for 2021-2022. Searches for "GS-6" and "GSE-6" came back with nothing for every year I tried, even though the 2024 recall names the GS-6 in its text. And nothing at all showed up for 2023 and later. That doesn't prove a late car is clean. It means you should check that car by VIN.
The recalls NHTSA lists
- 18V114 (2018 Revero): side curtain air bags could partly detach from the inflator during deployment. Dealers were to fit new air bags with an added clamp.
- 18V488 (2018 Revero): the driver's side mirror could have convex glass instead of the required flat glass, so objects could look farther away than they are.
- 19V296 (2018 Revero): the rollover sensor wasn't enabled, so the curtain air bags might not deploy in a rollover. The fix was a new air bag control unit and an owner's manual update.
- 19V408 (2018 Revero): the upper intrusion bar in the front left door could be split, weakening side-impact protection. Dealers were to inspect and replace front doors as needed.
- 24V379 (2020-2022 Revero GS-6, GS-6s, GS-6L, GTS and GT): a vehicle control module communication error could make the front turn signals fail intermittently. Dealers install new headlights with updated software, and owner letters went out Jan. 13, 2025.
Look, three of the four 2018 recalls involve crash protection, two of them the curtain air bags. On a 2018 car I'd want service paperwork for each one, not just a seller saying it's all done.
Who fixes them
NHTSA's recall notices give Karma customer service as 1-855-288-6109, and Karma's own contact page lists +1-949-541-6420 at its Irvine headquarters. The contact form mentions authorized dealers, but with a few hundred cars a year there may not be one near you, so call before you buy and ask where the nearest service point is and whether open recalls on that VIN are still being done. I didn't call them for this post. Ask about battery and hybrid system parts too. Our post on used EV battery recalls explains why that question matters on any plug-in.
Before you buy a used Karma
These are expensive, low-volume cars, and parts come from one small maker. A history report is worth more than usual here. Check the title on NMVTIS for salvage or rebuilt brands, then pull a CARFAX report or AutoCheck for accident reports, owners and odometer readings. An accident line on a car this rare should send you looking for the repair invoice.
Price-wise: CarVins resells CARFAX and AutoCheck reports under license and isn't affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck, Experian or Karma Automotive. In mid October 2026 a guest report was about $5.50, a member report about $4.50 and both together about $6.75, while retail tends to be $39.99 to $44.99. Confirm the price at checkout, since that's what you'll actually be charged.
