Security Service Federal Credit Union markets new and pre-owned auto loans from its San Antonio base, offers GAP Advantage as an optional add-on, and routes rate details through a zip-gated rates flow. The public auto loan page I read does not publish a CARFAX rule, a title-brand policy or a fixed APR grid. Ask those questions before you shop a used car on SSFCU money.
I read SSFCU's auto loans page on Nov. 5, 2026. The public rates page returned an error page without a zip in my pull the same day, so I cannot quote a live APR from the open web. Treat rate numbers you see after entering a zip as a freshness snapshot, and confirm them with a loan officer.
What SSFCU posts
The auto loans page pushes flexible repayment terms, payment protection, an auto loan calculator, overnight payments and a "View Rates & Apply" path. It also sells GAP Advantage with PowerBuy as optional protection and says buying or skipping GAP does not change credit approval. Headquarters copy lists San Antonio, Texas. Membership eligibility still applies; the page does not replace an eligibility check.
A refinance note on the page asks members to call before applying on certain lease-company paper (Ford, Nissan, Infiniti, GM Financial, Ally, Volvo lease companies are named). That is a process warning, not a title-brand policy.
What it does not post
I found no public sentence that requires a CARFAX report, names AutoCheck, sets a max LTV, or bans salvage titles. Zip-gated rates mean two shoppers can see different pages. If your used car has a rebuilt brand, a branded title from another state or a private-party bill of sale, ask SSFCU in writing how underwriting treats it. Our credit union salvage title loan guide lists the usual traps.
GAP is optional here, which is good, but the menu can still get expensive. Read GAP insurance on a used car before you add PowerBuy or a similar product.
How to prepare
Buy your own history report and run the VIN on NMVTIS. Use how to read a CARFAX report so you can answer underwriting questions without waiting on a dealer fax. For market-rate context, see the CFPB auto loan tools.
Reseller pricing caveat
We're a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck, Experian or Security Service FCU. As of early November 2026, guest reports are about $5.50, member reports about $4.50, and the bundle about $6.75, versus retail near $39.99 to $44.99. Confirm at checkout.
Title brands, odometer gaps and salvage rebuilds show up on a report you buy yourself, even when the paint looks straight. Cross-check the VIN plate, door sticker and dashboard stamp so the car matches the paper before you wire a deposit.
Ask the lender how branded titles, private-party purchases and older model years change the rate, the max LTV and any required GAP or warranty add-ons before you sign the note.
