Wings Credit Union does not publish a requirement that you provide a CARFAX report to get a used auto loan, based on its auto loan pages as read on Nov. 5, 2026. It prices used loans by model year, back to 2010 models, and points members to an Auto Resource Center for vehicle history and values. A history report is still worth pulling yourself, because the loan approval is about the car's value and your credit, not whether the car has a hidden past.
Wings and Ent are now one credit union
This is the fresh part. Ent Credit Union's website now says Ent has changed its name to Wings Credit Union, and that the two "have merged, but are still combining." The site sends Colorado members to the Ent-branded application and members in Minnesota, Wisconsin and other legacy Wings states to the Wings application. So if you were a Colorado Ent member, your auto loan may still run through the Colorado process for now. Check the Wings auto loan page for the Minnesota-side terms used here, and confirm which path applies to you.
What Wings publishes for used auto loans
The Wings auto loan page listed rates effective Nov. 4, 2026. Highlights from that table:
- 2023 and newer models: from 5.49% APR for 36 months, up to 6.24% for 84 months.
- 2020 to 2022 models: from 5.74% APR for 36 months, up to 6.74% for 84 months.
- 2016 to 2019 models: 6.74% APR for up to 60 months.
- 2010 to 2015 models: 6.99% APR for up to 60 months.
The page says those rates include a 0.50% discount for payroll direct deposit of $1,000 or more a month, so your rate without it would be higher. Terms run up to 84 months on newer models, and membership requires a $5 share account. Rates change; treat these as a snapshot from early November 2026.
What the page does not say
I did not find a CARFAX, AutoCheck or other history report requirement on the auto loan page. The page does mention an Auto Resource Center with tools for vehicle history and values, which tells you Wings expects members to check. Lenders also verify the title, so a salvage or rebuilt brand may change what they will lend; our credit union salvage title loan guide covers how lenders treat branded titles. If you are unsure, ask a loan officer before you sign a purchase agreement.
Why the model year cutoff matters
A 2010 model year floor and a 60-month cap on 2010-2019 cars means an older car may need a bigger down payment or a shorter term. Older cars also carry more history: more owners, more chances for an accident or flood, and more room for odometer problems. A 2012 car at $9,000 is exactly where a $5 report pays for itself. Ask about loan-to-value limits if you plan to roll taxes, fees or a service contract into the loan; the CFPB's loan-to-value explainer covers the basics.
Steps before you close
- Get preapproved, so you know your rate and maximum before you shop.
- Get the VIN and decode it with the NHTSA vPIC decoder to confirm year and trim, since the model year sets your rate tier.
- Run a history report and check title brands.
- Get a pre-purchase inspection on anything older than about five years.
- Read the contract for add-ons and compare against your preapproval.
For other credit unions' approaches, see our BECU auto loan CARFAX policy and Alliant auto loan CARFAX policy posts. Both lenders handle history checks a little differently.
Ent members in Colorado
Ent historically published its own rates and vehicle rules on ent.com, and during the combining period those may differ from the Wings page. If you bank in Colorado, read the terms on the application you are sent to rather than assuming the Minnesota numbers apply. The NCUA insures both legacy credit unions' share accounts, and that has not changed with the name.
Questions to ask the loan officer
Call or message before you shop, and ask five things. Do you need any vehicle history report, or only the title and bill of sale? Will you lend on a salvage, rebuilt or other branded title? How do you value the car, and from which guide? Can I buy from a private seller, and how is the title handled then? How long is my preapproval good for? Write the answers down with the date, since policies shift during a merger.
Pulling a report yourself
As of early November 2026 a CARFAX bought direct usually costs around $44.99, and AutoCheck sits a little lower. We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck or Experian. Our guest price has been about $5.50 a report, about $4.50 for members, and about $6.75 for a CARFAX and AutoCheck bundle. Confirm the price at checkout, since it can change.
