Bellco Credit Union doesn't say anywhere on its auto loan pages that it requires a CARFAX or AutoCheck report, and it doesn't give you one. It also doesn't post a branded-title rule, a mileage cap or a vehicle age cutoff, which means the history checking is on you. As of Oct. 20, 2026, Bellco's auto rate starts at 5.74% APR for well-qualified borrowers, and that advertised rate only applies to loans originated in Colorado.
I read Bellco's auto loan page, its rates page (stamped "Rates accurate as of: October 20, 2026") and its membership page that afternoon. I didn't apply or talk to a loan officer, so anything Bellco decides at underwriting isn't something I can see. If you're comparing credit unions in other states, our Mission Fed auto loan post shows a lender that does put a no-branded-titles rule in writing.
Who can join Bellco
The membership page says you're eligible if you live or work in any of 19 Colorado counties, including Denver, Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Douglas, El Paso, Jefferson, Larimer, Pueblo and Weld. A family member who belongs (by blood, marriage or adoption) also qualifies you, as does working for one of Bellco's select employee groups. People outside Colorado can join by joining the Bellco Foundation, a 501(c)(3). Once you're in, Bellco says you stay a member even if you move.
Rates as of Oct. 20, 2026
The rates page lists one auto number: 5.74% APR. Motorcycles are 10.14% and RVs 9.49%. The page has no table by term or model year, so you can't tell from the site how much a 2015 car costs you compared with a 2024. The fine print says the final APR "may vary based on several factors, including personal credit history, term of loan, loan to value and age of auto." So age does affect your rate, but Bellco doesn't publish by how much.
Two more details from the disclosures. The 5.74% only applies to auto loans originated in Colorado, even though the auto loan page says Bellco serves auto loan members "throughout the nation." And Bellco's business auto rate requires the vehicle to be "both located and titled within the state of Colorado." That line is for business loans, but it tells you where Bellco's comfort zone is.
What else the auto page offers
The auto loan page lists new and used loans, lease buyouts, up to 100% financing, no application or processing fees, and "a variety of terms" without naming them. For a limited time Bellco is offering no payments for 90 days on refinances brought over from another lender. Interest keeps accruing during those 90 days, the offer can't be combined with other auto promotions, and it can end at any time.
Up to 100% financing sounds nice until you look at what it means on a used car. If you borrow the full price, you're upside down the moment you drive off, and GAP coverage (which Bellco sells) only covers part of that risk. I didn't see a private-party purchase policy spelled out either way. Ask before you shake hands with a seller on Craigslist.
What the numbers look like
My example: $25,000 over 60 months at 5.74% comes to about $480 a month and $3,818 in interest. At 11.19%, the average used-car rate in Experian's Q2 2026 data (still the newest when I looked), it's about $546 a month and $7,756 in interest. That's my math, not Bellco's, and Bellco doesn't publish a term or a payment example for the 5.74%, so your real rate could be well above it.
Since Bellco doesn't check for you, check it yourself
A lender that doesn't post a title rule can still turn down a car at underwriting, and plenty of lenders won't touch a salvage or rebuilt title. Read our Colorado salvage and rebuilt title rules before you look at a branded car, and ask Bellco directly. Colorado gets hail, and plenty of hail-damaged cars get fixed and sold with a clean title, so a brand isn't the only thing to worry about.
Look up the VIN on NMVTIS for brands, pull a history report, and get a pre-purchase inspection. If a seller hands you a printed report, check the date at the top. A months-old printout is easy to fake and easy to outdate. Budget for tax too, which can add a real chunk to the loan. Our Colorado used car sales tax guide explains how it's figured, and the Colorado private-sale title transfer guide covers the paperwork if you buy from a person.
CarVins is a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with either one or with Bellco. As of late October 2026, a report ran about $5.50 for guests and $4.50 for members, and the bundle of both about $6.75, while retail sits around $39.99 to $44.99. Go by what checkout shows you, not what I wrote here.
