To check Bentley recalls by VIN, enter the 17-digit VIN on NHTSA's recall lookup and then ask a Bentley dealer for an open campaign printout, because on a used Bentayga, Continental GT, or Flying Spur the free recall work is often the only cheap repair you will ever get. In mid October 2026 the campaign we would look for first on a Bentayga is 23V-592, fuel supply module wiring that can overheat and melt the flange, which can lead to a fuel leak.
Bentley recalls are filed by Bentley Motors, Inc., and the dealer will quote a code like RE23/19 next to the NHTSA number. When we pulled Bentley data from NHTSA on October 13, 2026, the campaign counts were small, sometimes only a few dozen cars or fewer, which is what you expect from a brand that sells in tiny volumes. Small populations cut both ways. A single open recall on a six-figure SUV is a free fix you should collect, and a seller who never booked it probably skipped other maintenance too.
How to run a Bentley VIN and what to ask the dealer
Match the VIN on the windshield plate to the door jamb label and the title, then read the status lines using our guide to checking recalls by VIN on NHTSA. Bentley service desks can also pull warranty and campaign history, which matters on a car that changed hands through exotic dealers and auctions. A glossy service binder is nice to have, but it is not proof that a specific campaign was closed, so ask for the VIN printout anyway.
Bentayga: fuel system, seat belts, and air bags
NHTSA recall 23V-592 covers about 3,527 2017-2023 Bentayga vehicles whose fuel supply module wiring can overheat and melt the flange, resulting in a fuel leak. Dealers replace the flange and the wiring. A separate fuel campaign, 20V-321, covers about 1,892 2019-2020 Bentaygas whose engine-bay fuel line quick connector may leak; dealers replace the line and connector. If you smell fuel on a test drive, stop the conversation there.
Seven-seat Bentaygas have their own item. 20V-154 covers 281 2018-2020 Bentayga vehicles with third-row seats whose upper seat belt attachment may not stay connected in a crash, and dealers replace the bolt. A tiny campaign, 20V-092, covered four 2018-2020 Bentaygas whose side curtain air bags might not inflate properly; NHTSA's record says all four were fixed by October 2020. Earlier, a 2018 filing hit the rearview camera on 2018 Bentayga and Mulsanne models. Honestly, on a Bentayga the history report matters as much as the recall list, because the recall lookup says nothing about how many owners it had or whether it was ever a lease return or a dealer demo.
Continental GT and Flying Spur
On the coupe and convertible, 21V-550 covers about 3,647 2020-2021 Continental GT and GT Convertible vehicles whose front seats, during some automated movements, could trap a rear passenger's legs. Dealers update the seat software. 22V-177 covers 25 2020-2022 Continental GT, GT Convertible, and 2021-2022 Flying Spur cars whose front passenger seat belt may be missing the automatic locking retractor used to secure a child seat.
Older cars have a long-running electrical item. 15V-688 covers about 7,778 vehicles, including 2012-2014 Continental GT, 2012-2015 Continental GTC, 2012-2013 Continental Flying Spur, and 2014 Flying Spur models, where a battery cable connection may be loose at the firewall. Dealers replace the securing nut. That is a ten-minute job at a dealer and a fire risk if it is ignored, so on a 2012-2015 car we would want to see it closed.
Why the VW Group and Audi links matter
Consumer Reports notes Bentley was sold to the Volkswagen Group in 1998 and that modern Bentleys share some parts, engine designs, and technology with Audi, while nearly all are built in the UK with specialty parts that can be expensive to replace. That is why our Audi recall check by VIN and Porsche recall check by VIN guides are useful background reading if you are cross-shopping. Shared parts do not mean shared recalls, though. Run the Bentley VIN by itself. Car and Driver's Bentayga review lists a 456-hp hybrid with a turbo 3.0-liter V-6, a 542-hp twin-turbo V-8, and a 641-hp Speed for 2026, all with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
History and price
Recalls ignore salvage titles, flood damage, and rolled odometers. CARFAX says its reports include title brands, odometer readings, and reported accidents, and our guide on how to read a CARFAX report covers those lines. Beware sellers who send a PDF report with no VIN printed on it. As of mid October 2026, a CARFAX report through us is about $5.50 as a guest or $4.50 as a member, and a CARFAX plus AutoCheck bundle about $6.75, versus roughly $39.99 to $44.99 retail.
