Does Bethpage FCU (FourLeaf) Require a CARFAX for a Car Loan?

FourLeaf (formerly Bethpage) lists new-auto APRs from 5.53% and pre-owned from 5.88%. A report is not listed as required, so run one yourself.

Does Bethpage FCU (FourLeaf) Require a CARFAX for a Car Loan?

Bethpage Federal Credit Union now operates as FourLeaf Federal Credit Union, and its public rate pages still do not list a CARFAX or AutoCheck report as a hard requirement to close an auto loan. On Nov. 5, 2026 I read FourLeaf's rates and calculators page and found new-auto APRs as low as 5.53% (60 months), 5.68% (72), 6.18% (84) and 6.83% (96), with pre-owned as low as 5.88% (60 and 72 months) and 6.33% (84 months). Classic autos (25 model years and older) showed 8.29% as low as on a 60-month example. Because those quotes assume the car matches the paperwork, a history check before you sign protects you more than it protects the credit union.

What FourLeaf's pages say (Bethpage searchers)

I read fourleaffcu.com rates materials on Nov. 5, 2026. They listed:

  • New Auto APRs as low as 5.53% (60 months), 5.68% (72), 6.18% (84) and 6.83% (96), with payment examples per $1,000 borrowed and a published max of $100,000 for the displayed rates (higher amounts at higher rates).
  • Pre-Owned APRs as low as 5.88% (60 and 72 months) and 6.33% (84 months), with shorter max terms on older model years noted in the footnotes.
  • Classic Auto as low as 8.29% with a $35,000 example max on the printed cell.
  • Footnotes that the displayed APRs assume top-tier credit and about 90% LTV or less on new and pre-owned examples, and that FourLeaf does not finance auto purchases from vehicle auction sites.
  • Membership language requiring a $5 savings account and U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien status for the loan programs described.

I did not find language that said a CARFAX is mandatory to close every auto loan. Offers and underwriting rules can still change, so ask your loan officer what file they need for your VIN. If you still search "Bethpage" for rates, use the FourLeaf pages and confirm the legal name on your disclosures.

Why you should still pull a report

Credit unions price loans on the assumption that mileage, title brand and accident history match the application. A rebuilt brand, odometer rollback or undeclared salvage event can change insurance, resale and whether the CU will advance the amount you expected. Run NHTSA recalls on the VIN, then buy a history report you control. Our NHTSA versus CARFAX and NMVTIS versus CARFAX guides explain what each source catches. For branded-title financing friction, see financing a rebuilt title car.

Questions to ask before you sign

  • Do you require a CARFAX, AutoCheck or NMVTIS printout for this VIN?
  • Will a salvage, rebuilt or lemon brand change the APR or max advance?
  • Does this VIN fall under new, pre-owned or classic pricing on your sheet?
  • Which add-ons are optional under CFPB rules for this loan?

How to use the figures without getting trapped

FourLeaf's public grid is term-sensitive. A 5.53% 60-month new-auto cell is not the same product as a 6.83% 96-month cell. Ask for the APR that matches your credit tier, LTV and term in writing before you shop cars. Bring your own history report to the appointment so the file matches the VIN on the purchase contract.

Honestly, we have seen buyers celebrate an "as low as" rate, then discover the advance shrinks after a branded title shows up late. Pull the report first. Look, auction-site purchases are called out as not financed on the public page, so do not assume a Copart find will clear underwriting.

Title brands and FourLeaf / Bethpage

Public pages did not spell out a salvage advance matrix. That silence is normal. It does not mean a rebuilt brand will clear at the same LTV as a clean title. Ask the underwriter how they treat salvage, rebuilt, flood and lemon brands for your state before you write a deposit check.

If the seller hands you a PDF that skips auction rows, buy your own report anyway. Confirm report contents and total at checkout, then keep the PDF with the loan packet.

What the report costs

As of early November 2026 a CARFAX bought direct usually costs around $44.99, and AutoCheck sits a little lower. We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck or Experian. Our guest price has been about $5.50 a report, about $4.50 for members, and about $6.75 for a CARFAX and AutoCheck bundle. Confirm the price at checkout, since it can change.

If you still have Bethpage paperwork in a drawer, match the routing and legal name on the new FourLeaf disclosures before you sign. Rebrands are normal; mismatched names on a title lien are not. Ask the closer to show the exact creditor name that will appear on the title application.

Motorcycle and RV cells on the same FourLeaf rates page sit higher than the auto grid. Do not assume an auto APR applies to a camper VIN. Confirm collateral type in the same written quote as the rate.
