Call Federal Auto Loans: Used Rates and CARFAX

Call Federal lists used-car APRs for 2017 to 2021 model years effective November 1, 2026, starting at 4.74% with all discounts. Its page offers members three CARFAX reports with a car loan in the works, but it does not say a report is required for approval.

I read Call Federal's used-car loan page and its about page for this November 5, 2026 guide. The rate table says Rates Effective Date: November 1, 2026. Look, the lowest figure assumes top-tier credit and every available discount, so most borrowers should expect a higher quote. The page is still a useful dated reference for the term bands.

Read the 2017 to 2021 table

The used table covers 2017 to 2021 model years and shows 4.74% APR up to 36 months, from 37 to 48 months and from 49 to 60 months. It rises to 5.24% for 61 to 72 months and 5.74% for 73 to 84 months. The page points 2022-and-newer cars to its new-car loans. Ask what applies to a 2016 or older car, because this table does not list it. Get the actual quote in writing.

Separate the discounts from the base rate

The page lists a 0.50% loyalty discount for members with a consumer loan in the last seven years or ten-plus years of membership. It lists a 0.50% education discount for completing a qualifying Money and Beyond course, and a 0.25% discount for automatic transfer from a Call Federal checking account. It also says the rate can be adjusted if you stop the auto transfer. Ask which discounts you qualify for today. The lowest advertised rate assumes all of them.

Use the repayment example carefully

The page shows a used-vehicle example of $25,000 over 60 months at 5.74% with a payment of $482. That is an illustration, not your approval. Taxes, fees and add-ons change the amount financed. Our loan-to-value explainer explains why the balance can outrun the car's value. Compare offers on the same amount and term.

Understand the CARFAX offer exactly

The page says Call Federal offers three CARFAX vehicle history reports at no charge for members with a car loan in the works, through a request form. Its footnote says access is subject to CARFAX consumer terms, reports are for personal use and Call Federal is not liable for report accuracy. That is a member resource, not a stated underwriting requirement. Ask whether the loan needs any specific history or title document. A report is still not an inspection.

Confirm the institution

Call Federal says it was founded on September 23, 1962, by Richmond-based Philip Morris employees, and now serves members in the Greater Richmond area, per its official history page. Confirm membership eligibility through the official site before applying. References to the founding employer describe history, not a separate lender. Use only the official site for applications.

Plan around liens and optional products

The page mentions GAP Plus, mechanical repair coverage, debt protection and car insurance through partners. Ask for each product's cost separately and whether any is required. For a private sale with a lien, use our lien-payoff steps and private-seller lien guide to plan the payoff. Keep the purchase price, loan and products on separate lines.

Keep the car checks separate from approval

A loan approval does not certify the car's condition or the seller's ownership story. The NYC consumer-agency used-car guidance tells buyers to get a history report and an independent mechanic, and the federal Buyers Guide rule describes dealer disclosures rather than any credit-union CARFAX mandate. Private sales follow a different disclosure setting. Use our inspection checklist to define the mechanical work before you release funds.

Before you authorize funding

Ask Call Federal to confirm the model-year eligibility, which discounts apply and whether any report or title document is needed. So, ask for a dated written approval tied to the actual VIN, amount financed and term. Keep the rate quote, collateral answer, purchase agreement and any payoff instructions together. The CFPB auto-loan resources explain how to shop and compare offers; they do not set this lender's underwriting policy.

We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck or Experian. Guest reports have been about $5.50, member reports about $4.50 and a two-report bundle about $6.75; confirm the price at checkout because it can change. A report can miss unreported work, so keep the inspection appointment even when the history looks quiet.
