To check Dodge recalls on a used Charger, Durango, or Hornet, run the 17-digit VIN on NHTSA and ask a Dodge or Chrysler dealer for the FCA campaign printout. Incomplete campaigns are free repairs. In mid October 2026, gas Charger shoppers should clear the side curtain inflator recall on 2018-2021 cars, while Hornet plug-in shoppers should treat the brake pedal campaign as a hard stop.
Dodge recalls are filed by FCA US (Stellantis), and campaign codes look like 19B, D0C, or 78D rather than anything with "Dodge" in the string. When we pulled Dodge filings on October 13, 2026, several Hornet campaigns were shared with Alfa Romeo Tonale, and Charger camera software sat inside giant multi-brand PDFs. That is normal. The VIN still has to close.
How to run a Dodge VIN
Match the windshield and door VINs. Our NHTSA recall check by VIN guide explains incomplete versus completed status. Decode the car with our Dodge VIN decoder so you know if the car is a last-gen gas Charger, a new Charger Daytona EV, a Durango, or a Hornet PHEV before you argue about which PDF applies. Ask the dealer for a printout with the FCA campaign code on it.
Charger: inflators, parking brake and EV sound
24V-198 covers about 284,982 2018-2021 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicles whose side curtain air bag inflators may rupture from a manufacturing defect. Dealers replace both side curtain air bags. Owner letters began February 20, 2025. FCA code is 19B. If a seller says the Takata work was done years ago, that is a different campaign family; this one still needs its own repair order.
On 2023 Chargers, 24V-112 covers about 1,808 cars whose parking brake may be improperly adjusted and allow a rollaway. Dealers adjust the parking brake. On the new battery-electric Chargers, 25V-389 covers about 8,390 2024-2025 models whose exterior sound amplifier may be missing software, so pedestrian warning sound may not play. Dealers update the amplifier software. 26V-531 also sweeps 2026-2027 Chargers into a huge rearview camera software campaign shared with Jeep and Ram. Our used Dodge Charger buying guide covers trim and powertrain shopping once the VIN is clean.
Hornet: brake pedal collapse and camera display
25V-846 covers about 5,974 2024 Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale plug-in hybrids. The brake pedal may collapse and cause a loss of brake function. Dealers reinforce the brake pedal arm. Letters went out January 13, 2026. The campaign expands earlier recall 24V-752, so a car "fixed once" can still be open. 25V-246 covers about 48,527 2023-2025 Hornet and Tonale vehicles whose display may not show the rearview camera image. Dealers update software or replace the display.
Durango spoiler redo and shifter heat-treat
26V-528 covers about 74,578 2021-2023 Durangos whose rear spoiler may not align with the roof and can be damaged during liftgate use. It expands earlier campaigns 21V-842 and 23V-115, so prior spoiler work does not clear this one. Interim letters went out September 10, 2026. On 2022 Charger and Durango models, 22V-866 covers about 5,834 vehicles whose shifter was not properly heat-treated and may not engage Drive correctly. Dealers replace the shifter assembly.
History report and price
Recalls will not catch a washed title or a rolled-back odometer. CARFAX says its reports cover title brands, odometer readings, ownership, and reported accidents, and our guide on how to read a CARFAX report helps sort minor from structural hits. As of mid October 2026, CARFAX through us is about $5.50 as a guest or $4.50 as a member, and a CARFAX plus AutoCheck bundle about $6.75, versus roughly $39.99 to $44.99 at retail. Confirm at checkout. We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck, or Experian. A Hornet PHEV with a soft brake pedal feel on the test drive is not a "needs alignment" story until 25V-846 is closed.
