Honor Credit Union Auto Loan: Rates and CARFAX

Honor Credit Union publishes auto loan rates on its auto loans page, but it does not promise a free CARFAX or AutoCheck report. Ask the lender what it checks, then verify the vehicle and title yourself before you sign.

Read the dated rate table

The auto loans page checked November 5, 2026 says rates are accurate as of Nov 05, 2026. Auto, light truck and motorcycle rates start as low as 4.99% APR up to 48 months, 5.49% for 49-60 months, 5.89% for 61-75 months, 6.79% for 76-84 months and 7.69% for 85-96 months. The page gives an example of $30,000 at 5.49% APR for 60 months at $573.03 per month.

Know what the advertised rates include

The disclosure says the stated rates reflect a 0.25% APR discount for borrowers with a credit score of 750 or higher at application. Your rate may be higher depending on credit history, loan purpose, amount, term, mileage and vehicle year. Ask for the rate on the specific car.

Check the minimum loan amounts

Longer terms require larger loans: $10,000 for 61-75 months, $20,000 for 76-84 months and $30,000 for 85-96 months. A cheap older car may not qualify for the longest terms. Ask which terms are available before you set your budget.

Ask precisely what the history check includes

A lender can review a title or valuation without buying the same consumer report you would buy yourself. Ask whether CARFAX, AutoCheck or another source is used, whether a copy is available to you, and who pays. The public rate page does not describe report access, so that answer stays unconfirmed until the Honor Credit Union loan officer handling your application gives it. Do not attribute a dealer promise to the credit union.

Make the approval specific to the title

Ask about salvage, rebuilt, flood, manufacturer-buyback and odometer brands before committing to a vehicle. An advertised rate does not establish branded-title eligibility. Supply the VIN, model year, mileage, asking price and title status for a collateral decision. Our lien-release guide explains why a paid-off balance and an acceptable title transfer are separate steps.

Compare the financing without losing the car checks

The CFPB auto-loan resources explain how to compare financing and read disclosures, and the federal Truth in Lending disclosure rules are summarized at Cornell LII. Ask for the APR, finance charge and total of payments, including any optional products. Then compare the inspection findings with the history report. Our odometer discrepancy explainer helps when a mileage entry conflicts with the advert.

Order evidence before releasing money

Use the identifier photographed on the car rather than copying a seller message. A fake PDF can make a private sale look safer than it is. Check title and salvage data through the NMVTIS program and read what service entries can establish before interpreting missing records. Look, approval of your income cannot certify a vehicle the lender has never inspected.

We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck or Experian. Advertised pricing has recently been about $5.50 guest, $4.50 member and $6.75 for a bundle. Confirm price, report availability and the included products at checkout. A report purchase does not reserve a loan rate, approve collateral or replace your independent inspection.

Refinance offer and identity check

The page also advertises refinancing from another lender at least 0.25% APR below your current rate, with a 4.99% floor for up to 96 months; internal refinances are excluded. Honor lists dealer partners in Michigan and Indiana. Honor was formerly Berrien Teachers Credit Union, and neither name matches a lender covered here; confirm membership eligibility first.

Save the dated rate page and the written approval separately; the approval controls your actual terms.

Keep the vehicle and borrower decisions together

Send the loan officer the sale price, mileage and model year, and ask whether a private-party purchase is handled differently from a dealer partner sale. Ask how long the approval stays valid and what changes if you pick a different car. For a private sale, ask who receives the funds and how any existing lienholder is paid. A preliminary approval is usually conditional on the collateral, so keep the approval letter with the title copy and the inspection report.

Line up timing before the seller deadline

Membership, approval and funding can each take time, and a private seller may not wait. Ask how long each step usually takes and whether funds can go directly to the seller or lienholder. If the inspection or history report raises a question, keep the approval open rather than signing a purchase agreement just to hold the car.
