Kirtland Federal lists vehicle APRs effective November 3, 2026 from 4.48% for 2026-2024 autos up to 36 months. Its page does not state a CARFAX requirement, so ask what underwriting needs before you order a report for the loan.
For this November 5, 2026 guide I read Kirtland's vehicle loan rates page, which shows EFFECTIVE: November 3, 2026 above the automobiles table, and its about page. The APRs are as-low-as for A+ credit, with a separate preferred-member column. So, expect your quote to move with credit tier and membership standing.
Find the model-year row first
The table lists 2026-2024 autos from 4.48% up to 36 months through 5.98% at 84 months, with preferred-member figures 0.25% lower when you qualify. 2023-2020 cars show 6.38% at 72 months, 2019-2016 show 6.48% at 60 months, 2015-2012 show 6.79% up to 48 months, and classics 2006 or older show 9.99% at 60 months with no preferred column. Ask which row your VIN uses.
Understand the preferred-member discount
The page says the preferred rate is a 0.25% discount when membership is in good standing: current on existing debt, minimum par share, no negative accounts and no outstanding fees. Ask the loan officer to confirm those tests today. The as-low-as column without the discount is the right comparison if you do not.
Ask about refinance specials separately
The same page promotes an automobile refinance special with up to 0.75% off and 90 days no payment when you apply before November 30, 2026. That offer is not the standard purchase table. Ask which program applies to your deal. Get the final APR in writing.
Find out whether a report is needed
The rates page reviewed does not name a required CARFAX or AutoCheck product, report age or purchaser. Ask whether Kirtland orders its own history or needs title documents before funding. Our credit-union branded-title checklist helps you frame the question. A seller PDF is not proof of a clean title. Match the VIN everywhere.
Confirm the Kirtland AFB institution
Kirtland's official history page describes a not-for-profit credit union with branches in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Los Lunas and on Kirtland AFB, serving military-connected and community membership. The footer identifies Kirtland Federal Credit Union. Similar names elsewhere are not this lender. Use kirtlandcu.org before applying.
Plan collateral and payoff steps
For a private sale with a lien, ask how payoff and title delivery work with funding. Our lien-payoff steps and private-seller lien guide organize the sequence. Keep optional products on separate lines. Compare lenders on APR, fees and term for the same VIN.
Keep the car checks separate from approval
A loan approval does not certify the car's condition or the seller's ownership story. The NYC consumer-agency used-car guidance tells buyers to get a history report and an independent mechanic, and the federal Buyers Guide rule describes dealer disclosures rather than any credit-union CARFAX mandate. Private sales follow a different disclosure setting. Use our inspection checklist to define the mechanical work before you release funds.
Before you authorize funding
Motorcycle and RV rows on the same vehicle page carry higher as-low-as APRs than the automobile table. Keep those products out of your car payment comparison. Ask the loan officer to quote the automobile band that matches your model year.
Ask Kirtland to confirm the model-year row, preferred-member status and any history-document rule. So, ask for a dated written approval tied to the actual VIN, amount financed and term. Keep the rate quote, collateral answer, purchase agreement and any payoff instructions together. The CFPB auto-loan resources explain how to shop and compare offers; they do not set this lender's underwriting policy.
We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck or Experian. Guest reports have been about $5.50, member reports about $4.50 and a two-report bundle about $6.75; confirm the price at checkout because it can change. A report can miss unreported work, so keep the inspection appointment even when the history looks quiet.
Classic-vehicle rows at higher APRs are not a shortcut for a neglected daily driver that happens to be old. Ask how Kirtland defines classic for collateral purposes on your specific car.
