Michigan United lists automobile APRs effective Thursday, November 05, 2026, from 4.05% for 36 months on 2016-2026 model years. Its rate page sets no CARFAX mandate, so confirm collateral rules before you buy a report for the credit union.
I read Michigan United's loan-rates page and its our-story page for this November 5, 2026 guide. The page states Effective Thursday, November 05, 2026 above the tables. Look, the figures are as-low-as and depend on credit score and model year. Use them as a dated floor, not a promise.
Read the 2016-2026 automobile table
The table lists 4.05% for 36 months, 4.74% for 48 and 60 months, 4.99% for 72 months, 5.24% for 84 months and 5.99% for 96 months, with rising minimum loan amounts on the longer terms. The 84-month row shows a $35,000 minimum and the 96-month row shows $50,000. Ask which term your amount and model year actually qualify for.
Check the older-used rows separately
Used vehicles 2015 and older show 6.49% for 36 months, 6.74% for 48 months and 6.99% for 60 months, each with a $4,500 minimum. That is a different conversation from the 2016-2026 table. Confirm the model year on the title before you build a payment around the newer-car rates.
Use the payment examples as illustrations
The page shows a $20,000 loan for 60 months at 4.74% APR with a $375.05 payment, and a $4,500 older-used example at 6.49% for 36 months with a $137.90 payment. Those are examples, not your approval. Our loan-to-value explainer explains add-ons that push balances higher. Compare quotes on the same amount.
Ask about history documents directly
The rate page reviewed does not name a required CARFAX or AutoCheck product, report age or purchaser. Ask whether Michigan United orders its own history or needs title documents before funding. Our credit-union branded-title checklist helps you prepare. A seller PDF is not independent proof. Match the VIN on every document.
Confirm the merged institution
Michigan United's official history page says the credit union was established July 1, 2021 by merging Birmingham Bloomfield Credit Union, Metro North Federal Credit Union, Lakes Community Credit Union and Unity Credit Union, with roots back to Birmingham Teachers organized November 23, 1931. Former names in search results are history. Use michiganunitedcu.org for applications.
Plan title and payoff early
For a private sale with a lien, ask how payoff and title delivery work with funding. Our lien-payoff steps and private-seller lien guide organize the steps. Keep the inspection appointment even if the rate looks attractive. Approval does not certify the car's condition.
Keep the car checks separate from approval
A loan approval does not certify the car's condition or the seller's ownership story. The NYC consumer-agency used-car guidance tells buyers to get a history report and an independent mechanic, and the federal Buyers Guide rule describes dealer disclosures rather than any credit-union CARFAX mandate. Private sales follow a different disclosure setting. Use our inspection checklist to define the mechanical work before you release funds.
Before you authorize funding
Recreational vehicle rows on the same page use different APRs and minimums than automobiles. Keep boat or RV shopping off your auto comparison. Ask for an automobile quote tied to the vehicle identification number on the title.
Ask Michigan United to confirm the table row, minimum amount and any history-document rule for your VIN. So, ask for a dated written approval tied to the actual VIN, amount financed and term. Keep the rate quote, collateral answer, purchase agreement and any payoff instructions together. The CFPB auto-loan resources explain how to shop and compare offers; they do not set this lender's underwriting policy.
We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck or Experian. Guest reports have been about $5.50, member reports about $4.50 and a two-report bundle about $6.75; confirm the price at checkout because it can change. A report can miss unreported work, so keep the inspection appointment even when the history looks quiet.
If you are comparing several credit unions, rewrite each quote around the same amount financed, term and down payment. Mixing promotional examples from different pages hides the real spread.
