Does LGE Community CU Require a CARFAX for a Loan?

LGE shows new auto APRs from 5.10% to 6.65% and links AutoCheck. A CARFAX is not listed as required, so run a report yourself.

Does LGE Community CU Require a CARFAX for a Loan?

LGE Community Credit Union does not list a CARFAX report as a hard requirement on its public homepage rate module. On Nov. 5, 2026 that module showed new auto APRs as low as 5.10% to 6.65%, and LGE's site navigation included an AutoCheck link under car loans. Because those quotes assume the car matches the paperwork, pull a history report before you sign rather than assuming the credit union's tools replace your own VIN check.

What LGE's pages say

I read LGE Community Credit Union's public site on Nov. 5, 2026. It showed:

  • A featured new-auto rate module with APR as low as 5.10% to 6.65%.
  • Navigation under borrow / car loans that includes an AutoCheck page link at lgeccu.org.
  • Separate featured APR figures for other loan products on the same homepage module.

I did not find a sentence that said every auto loan requires a member-provided CARFAX. AutoCheck in the menu suggests LGE can work with Experian AutoCheck data in the car-loan flow. Ask your loan officer whether they pull AutoCheck, accept a CARFAX, or want NMVTIS for branded titles on your VIN.

Why you should still pull a report

Homepage APR ranges are starting points. Credit, term, loan-to-value and title brand all move the final number. A rebuilt brand discovered at funding can change insurance and advance. Run NHTSA recalls, then buy a history report you control. Our NHTSA versus CARFAX, AutoCheck versus NMVTIS and credit union branded title checklist guides explain the split.

Questions to ask LGE before you sign

  • Do you require CARFAX, AutoCheck or NMVTIS for this VIN?
  • Will you pull AutoCheck in-branch, and can I get a copy for my file?
  • Does a salvage or rebuilt brand change the APR or max advance?
  • Which add-ons are optional under CFPB rules for this loan?

AutoCheck in the menu versus your checkout

Seeing AutoCheck in a credit union menu does not mean the report was run on your car. Confirm the VIN on any CU-pulled PDF. If LGE emails or prints an AutoCheck, save it. If they only glance at a dealer screen, buy your own copy. We've seen funding delays when the dealer's stock number report did not match the retail VIN.

Rate ranges and shopping

A 5.10% to 6.65% band is a range, not a promise. Get a written quote on the exact VIN and term. Compare that quote to other credit unions only after the title brand is known. Shopping APR before you know the brand is shopping fiction.

On the day you buy

Match every VIN location to the title and the history report. Confirm the seller ID matches the title name. Keep the LGE quote date with your paperwork, because featured APRs change.

What to bring anyway

LGE advertises AutoCheck in its car-loan navigation and posts new-auto APR ranges on the homepage. Bring your own report tied to the VIN on the title, even if a dealer or the CU can pull AutoCheck in-branch.

Homepage modules versus loan docs

Featured rate tiles change. Save a dated screenshot of the 5.10% to 6.65% new-auto module if that is the range you were quoted from. Then get a member-specific quote. Marketing modules are not closing disclosures.

If LGE points you to AutoCheck during the application, read the score and the underlying events. A strong score with an open airbag recall is still a car that needs work before you take the keys. Pair AutoCheck with a NHTSA VIN lookup every time.

For branded titles, ask whether LGE follows the same advance rules as a clean title. Our branded title versus clean title guide explains why lenders care, and financing a rebuilt title car covers common denials.

Private-party purchases

Ask LGE how they fund private-party deals and out-of-state titles before you put a deposit on a listing. Bring a matching VIN on the title, bill of sale and history report. Do not rely on a seller screenshot of AutoCheck when the CU can pull or you can buy a fresh copy.

Confirm the seller ID matches the title name before LGE funds. Keep the history report with the loan file.

What the report costs

As of early November 2026 a CARFAX bought direct usually costs around $44.99, and AutoCheck sits a little lower. We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck or Experian. Our guest price has been about $5.50 a report, about $4.50 for members, and about $6.75 for a CARFAX and AutoCheck bundle. Confirm the price at checkout, since it can change.
