Lucid Recall Check by VIN: Air and Gravity Campaigns

To check Lucid recalls by VIN, run the 17-digit VIN through NHTSA's recall lookup, then confirm in the car's software screen and with Lucid service that every open campaign is closed. Most Lucid recalls are software fixes pushed over the air, so the trap on a used Air or Gravity is a car that never accepted the update. In mid October 2026 the one we would check first on any Air is 26V-540, an exterior lighting circuit that can overheat, where Lucid tells owners to park outside until the fix is installed.

Lucid files its recalls as Lucid USA, Inc., and each one has two numbers: the NHTSA campaign like 26V-540 and Lucid's own code like SR-26-06-0. When we pulled Lucid data from NHTSA on October 13, 2026, the Air had more than a dozen campaigns since the 2022 model year, and the Gravity already had three. One more thing we noticed: searching NHTSA's model list for the Gravity came back empty, while the campaign numbers themselves were on file. So search by VIN, never by picking a model from a dropdown.

How to run a Lucid VIN and read the answer

Take the VIN off the windshield plate and match it to the door jamb and the title. Our guide to checking recalls by VIN on NHTSA explains what incomplete, completed, and remedy not yet available mean. After that, look at the software version on the car's own screen. Several Lucid filings name exact version ranges, so a car stuck on old software can still owe the fix even when the seller swears it updates itself. If the seller only texts a screenshot of a recall page, treat it as worthless and run the VIN yourself.

Lucid Air: software, drive power, and the lighting circuit

NHTSA recall 26V-540 covers about 27,185 2022-2026 Air vehicles whose exterior lighting circuit may not have enough overcurrent protection, so it can overheat. Lucid released an over-the-air update, and owners were told to park outside and away from structures until it is done. Rearview camera software is the other big cluster. 25V-670 covers about 22,319 Air vehicles on software older than 2.8.0, and 26V-017 then caught about 10,816 cars with the AD02 package running 2.8.0 through 2.8.16.

Loss of drive power shows up more than once. 24V-497 covers about 5,251 2022-2023 Air vehicles whose high-voltage interlock software could open the contactors while driving, and Lucid pushed that fix over the air in June 2024. Earlier, 23V-110 covered 886 cars whose contactors could open unexpectedly; service centers updated software and replaced contactors as needed. Rear-wheel-drive Air Pure owners have their own list. 26V-193 covers about 3,627 2024-2026 Air Pure RWD cars whose half-shaft bolts may not be secured, expanding 25V-669, and 26V-309 covers about 2,039 RWD cars with a Gen 4 inverter that can fail, with an OTA monitor and inverter replacement if a failure is detected.

Two older ones are still worth a glance on early cars. 24V-495 covers about 7,506 Air vehicles whose high-voltage coolant heater may fail to defrost the windshield, and 22V-090 covered 203 early 2022 cars whose front strut snap ring could fail. Honestly, a 2022 Air with a long list of closed campaigns is not a red flag. A 2022 Air with open ones and a seller who says it's "just software" is.

Lucid Gravity: young SUV, three campaigns already

The Gravity is new enough that used ones are mostly off-lease or early trades, so every open line matters. 26V-192 covers about 4,476 2025-2026 Gravity vehicles whose second-row lap belt anchor brackets may have weak welds; Lucid will inspect, repair, or replace the seats. 26V-018 covers about 3,900 Gravity vehicles on software older than 3.3.20, where the rearview camera may not display, fixed over the air. A small one, 25V-855, covered 66 2026 Gravity SUVs with front seat backrest covers that could keep the side air bags from deploying correctly.

For context on what you are buying, Car and Driver's Gravity page lists Touring and Grand Touring trims at 560 and 828 horsepower, with the Grand Touring estimated at 450 miles of range. Its Lucid Air page says the Air Grand Touring went 410 miles in their highway range test. Consumer Reports is less kind: it says the Air struggles with below-average reliability. That is the honest tension here, and it is why the recall check comes before the range talk.

Other EVs, history reports, and what it costs

If you are cross-shopping, our Tesla recall check by VIN and Polestar recall check by VIN guides cover the same OTA-heavy pattern, and our page on used EV battery recalls covers battery campaigns in general. A clean recall lookup tells you nothing about a salvage title, a flood, or a wreck that got fixed cheap. CARFAX says its reports include title brands, odometer readings, and reported accidents, and our walkthrough on how to read a CARFAX report shows where to look. As of mid October 2026, a CARFAX report through us is about $5.50 as a guest or $4.50 as a member, and a CARFAX plus AutoCheck bundle about $6.75, versus roughly $39.99 to $44.99 retail.
