Ram Recall Check by VIN: 1500, 2500 and 3500 Campaigns

To check Ram recalls on a used 1500, 2500, or 3500, run the 17-digit VIN on NHTSA's recall lookup and ask a Ram or Chrysler dealer for the FCA campaign printout. Incomplete campaigns are free repairs the truck is still owed. In mid October 2026, newer 1500 shoppers should clear the rearview camera software recalls first, while 2018-2019 trucks still need the side curtain inflator campaigns answered by VIN.

Ram recalls are filed by FCA US (Stellantis), so the paperwork uses codes like 83D, 67D, or 78D rather than anything with "Ram" in the string. When we pulled Ram filings on October 13, 2026, several camera and cluster campaigns sat inside multi-brand PDFs that also name Jeep and Chrysler. That is normal for this family. The VIN still has to close on the truck in front of you, and a Dodge Charger recall page is not a substitute for a Ram pickup.

How to run a Ram VIN and read the status

Match the VIN on the lower windshield and the driver door sticker before you paste anything into a lookup. Our walkthrough on checking recalls by VIN on NHTSA explains incomplete versus completed lines. Decode the truck with our Ram VIN decoder so you can tell a fifth-gen 1500 from a Classic holdover or a 2500/3500 before you argue about which PDF applies. Ask the dealer for a printout with the FCA campaign code and a repair date. Incomplete means a fix exists and nobody has done it. Remedy not yet available means the defect is confirmed but parts or software are still rolling out.

2025-2026 camera and cluster software

NHTSA recall 26V-560 covers about 239,130 2025-2026 Ram 1500 trucks. A radio software error may keep the rearview camera image from displaying in reverse. The radio software updates over the air or at a dealer. Owner letters went out September 24, 2026. FCA code is 83D. A related, much larger campaign is 26V-531, covering about 844,027 vehicles including certain 2026 Ram 1500 and 2500 trucks whose rearview image may fail in reverse. Radio software updates by dealer or over the air. Letters began September 2, 2026. Honestly, a seller who says "the camera worked on the lot" is not answering either of those campaigns.

26V-225 covers about 65,348 2025-2026 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks whose instrument panel software may fail, which can blank transmission, brake, lighting, stability, tire-pressure, and air bag warnings. Dealers update the instrument panel software. Letters went out May 5, 2026. On 2023-2026 Ram 2500 trucks, 26V-288 covers about 12,736 pickups whose powertrain software may let the truck exceed the tire speed rating. Dealers update the powertrain control module software.

Second-row seat belt anchors and side curtain inflators

26V-495 covers about 1,271,294 2019-2026 Ram 1500 trucks. Second-row center and left-side seat belt buckle anchors may have been improperly installed. Dealers inspect and attach the anchors as needed. Owner letters were expected around August 18, 2026. FCA code is 67D. If kids ride back there, treat an open 67D line as a hard stop until the dealer printout shows completed.

On older trucks, side curtain inflator rupture campaigns still matter. 25V-824 covers about 1,589 2019 Ram 1500 Classic, 2500, and 3500 vehicles. 25V-592 covers about 1,761 2018 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. 25V-010 covers about 6,066 earlier 2016-2020 Ram pickups in the same failure family. Dealers replace one or both side curtain air bags. A seller who waves a Takata letter from years ago is talking about a different campaign family.

What a history report adds, and what it costs

A recall lookup will not catch a washed title, a flood truck, or a rolled-back odometer. CARFAX says its reports cover title brands, odometer readings, ownership, and reported accidents, and our guide on how to read a CARFAX report walks through those lines. For half-ton shopping once the VIN is clean, our used Ram 1500 buying guide covers generations and trims. IIHS rates the 2024 Ram 1500 crew cab if you want crash-test context after the recall list is clear. As of mid October 2026, a CARFAX report through us runs about $5.50 as a guest or about $4.50 as a member, and a CARFAX plus AutoCheck bundle about $6.75, versus roughly $39.99 to $44.99 at retail. Prices change, so confirm at checkout. We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck, or Experian. If a seller texts a recall screenshot but will not read you the VIN, assume the screenshot was edited.
