To check Lincoln recalls on a used Navigator, Aviator, Nautilus, or Corsair, run the 17-digit VIN on NHTSA's recall lookup and ask a Lincoln or Ford dealer for the campaign printout. Incomplete campaigns are free repairs. In mid October 2026, Navigator and Nautilus shoppers should clear the Image Processing Module A recall that can blank the rearview image, while Aviator shoppers should treat the second-row easy-entry seat campaign as unfinished until the dealer shows completed.
Lincoln recalls are filed by Ford Motor Company, so the paperwork often lists Ford numbers such as 26S21 or 26S52 next to Lincoln models. When we pulled Lincoln filings on October 13, 2026, several of the biggest campaigns covered Explorer and Expedition in the same PDF. That is normal for this brand family. Our roundup on Ford recall checks by VIN is useful when a campaign spans both badges, but the Lincoln VIN still has to close on its own.
How to run a Lincoln VIN
Match the windshield and door VINs. Our NHTSA recall check by VIN guide explains each status line. Decode the SUV with our Lincoln VIN decoder so you know if you are looking at a Navigator, Aviator, Nautilus, or Corsair before you argue about which PDF applies. Incomplete means a fix exists and nobody has done it. Remedy not yet available means the defect is confirmed but parts or software are still rolling out. Ask for a printout with the Ford campaign code and a date.
Navigator and Nautilus: camera module and brake assist
NHTSA recall 26V-165 covers about 254,640 vehicles including certain 2022-2025 Lincoln Navigator, 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus, and 2025 Lincoln Aviator models. The Image Processing Module A may reset unexpectedly, which can lose the rearview camera image and advanced driver-assistance features such as pre-collision assist, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Software updates by dealer or over the air. Owner letters began April 13, 2026 in phases. Ford code is 26S21. A seller who says "we checked the backup camera once" is not answering this campaign.
On 2025 Navigators, 25V-823 covers about 679 vehicles whose electronic brake booster module may lose power brake assist while driving or using driver-assist features. Dealers replace the electronic brake booster. Letters went out February 26, 2026. Separately, 25V-198 covers about 4,356 2024-2025 F-150, Expedition, and 2024 Navigator vehicles with 3.5-liter GTDI engines. A misaligned engine cup plug can cause a rapid oil leak. Dealers inspect alignment and replace the plug if needed. Letters went out May 22, 2025.
Aviator seats, park pawl and Navigator pretensioners
26V-451 covers about 387,911 2020-2027 Aviator and Explorer vehicles. The easy-entry switch for second-row outer seats may bind or stick so the seats unlatch, tip, or slide unexpectedly. The campaign expands earlier recall 25V-393, so prior seat work does not clear this one. Interim letters went out August 19, 2026, with a fuller remedy phased into early 2027. 26V-470 covers about 76,748 2025-2027 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator vehicles whose unoccupied driver's seat may recline unintentionally during remote door release or remote start.
26V-402 covers about 741,195 vehicles including certain 2018-2021 Navigator and 2020-2021 Aviator models whose transmission park pawl may engage while the vehicle is moving. Interim letters went out July 10, 2026, with a fuller remedy still rolling out. Do not ignore an open line just because the SUV "shifts fine" on a short test loop. On 2018-2022 Navigators, 26V-344 covers about 419,967 Expedition and Navigator vehicles whose front seat belt pretensioners may lock the belt so it will not retract or extend. It replaces and expands earlier recalls 24V-099 and 25V-197, so a car fixed under those older numbers still needs the new repair.
History report and price
Recalls will not catch a salvage brand or a flood-washed Navigator. CARFAX says its reports cover title brands, odometer readings, ownership, and reported accidents, and our guide on how to read a CARFAX report helps sort minor from structural hits. Car and Driver's Navigator coverage is useful for size and powertrain context once the VIN is clean. As of mid October 2026, CARFAX through us is about $5.50 guest or $4.50 member, bundle about $6.75, versus roughly $39.99 to $44.99 retail. Confirm at checkout. We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck, or Experian. An Aviator with a sticky second-row latch on the test drive is not a "needs lube" story until 26V-451 is closed.
