Used Genesis GV60 Buying Guide (2023 and Later)

Whether an early GV60 is worth it next to the bigger-battery 2026, plus the ICCU, driveshaft and seat belt recalls to check by VIN.

Used Genesis GV60 Buying Guide (2023 and Later)

The used Genesis GV60 that makes the most sense in October 2026 is a 2023-2025 Advanced or Performance with the ICCU charging recall (24V868) and both rear driveshaft recalls completed, priced well below a new 2026. New 2026 cars got a bigger 84.0-kWh battery and more range, so an older GV60 only wins if the discount covers that gap. On any 2023, also ask about the seat belt pretensioner recall, because NHTSA's record for GV60 owners still describes only an interim notice.

The GV60 shares its E-GMP electric platform with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, as Car and Driver's 2023 review points out, so a lot of what you read about those two applies here. I ran the NHTSA recalls API for 2023 through 2026 GV60s on Saturday, October 17, 2026, and turned up ten campaigns. That is a long list for a car this young, and it is the main reason I would not buy one without a dealer printout of completed work.

2023-2025 vs the 2026 refresh

At launch, C/D says every GV60 used a 77.4-kWh battery. The Advanced trim had 314 hp from two motors and an EPA estimate of up to 248 miles; the Performance had 429 hp and 235 miles. C/D gave the 2023 a 9 out of 10 and an Editors' Choice, but listed some real downsides: rivals with more range, no wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and Hyundai and Kia models with similar performance for less money. A rear-drive Standard model came later with a single 225-hp motor.

For 2026, C/D's current GV60 page lists a mild styling refresh, a new steering wheel, a 27.0-inch display, and the larger 84.0-kWh pack. Range estimates rise to 306 miles for the rear-drive model and 252 for the Performance, and Genesis quotes a 10 to 80 percent DC fast charge in 18 minutes. MSRPs run $54,020 to $73,370. Compare that with C/D's used-value widget, which showed a 2023 at roughly $25,594 to $45,582 when I checked. That spread is the whole argument for buying used, as long as you can live with the shorter range.

Warranty: what C/D lists, and what I could not confirm

C/D lists a 5-year/60,000-mile limited warranty, 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage and three years or 36,000 miles of free maintenance. Here is where I have to be honest. Long powertrain and EV battery coverage does not always pass to a second owner on the same terms, and I could not verify the current GV60 transfer rules from a Genesis page our link checker could reach. So ask a Genesis retailer to read the warranty status off the VIN and write down what transfers to you. Do not take a private seller's word that you get "the 10-year warranty."

GV60 recalls to check on the VIN

  • 24V868, 2023-2025 (replaces 24V204): the Integrated Charging Control Unit can be damaged and stop charging the 12-volt battery, which can cause a loss of drive power. The NHTSA record says dealers inspect and replace the ICCU and its fuse as needed and update software. Cars repaired under the earlier 24V204 need the new remedy too, so one completed ICCU recall is not enough.
  • 23V300 and 24V065, 2023: rear driveshafts that may fracture, and a rear inner driveshaft that may have been heat-treated wrong. Both can cause loss of drive power, and dealers replace the parts.
  • 23V094, 2023: front seat belt pretensioners that may explode on deployment. NHTSA's text says GV60 owners got interim letters in April 2023 and a second notice will follow once the final remedy is available. Ask the dealer whether the fix has been done on that VIN.
  • 23V557, 2023: a passenger seat belt locking retractor that may not let the belt fasten or extend properly.
  • Software and trim items: 24V584 (camera display may shut off in reverse, 2024-2025), 25V474 (instrument panel may fail, 2023-2025, fixed over the air or at a dealer), 25V624 (the stainless windshield molding may detach, 2023-2025), and 26V019 on 2026 cars, where owners are told to disable HD Radio until a software update.

Our Genesis recall check by VIN post shows how to see which of these are open on a specific car. The Genesis VIN decoder guide will confirm trim and motor layout, which matters because a Standard RWD and an Advanced AWD look nearly identical.

GV60 vs Ioniq 5, EV6 and GV70

If you are shopping a GV60 mainly for the platform, read our used Hyundai Ioniq 5 buying guide and used Kia EV6 buying guide before deciding. Both share the ICCU recall history and usually cost less, and C/D's own lows say the GV60 is not as spacious as its rivals. What the Genesis gives you is a nicer cabin and its warranty and maintenance package. If you want more room and are fine with gas, the used Genesis GV70 buying guide covers the bigger Genesis SUV.

Before you pay

Charge the car on a DC fast charger during your test drive if you can, and make sure the 12-volt system does not throw warnings afterward. Then run the VIN on NMVTIS and read a full history for accidents and odometer records. An EV with front-end damage can hide expensive sensor and cooling repairs. And never trust a history PDF the seller sends you, because we have seen faked ones. CarVins is a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck, Experian or Genesis. In mid October 2026 our single-report price was around $5.50 for guests and about $4.50 for members, with a two-brand bundle near $6.75, compared with roughly $39.99 to $44.99 direct. Check the total at checkout, since those figures change.
