A used Jeep Renegade on U.S. lots in mid October 2026 is a 2015-2023 subcompact from Italy, not a mini Wrangler. Jeep stopped selling it in the U.S. and Canada after 2023. Power went from a 1.4T or 2.4 Tigershark with a 9-speed automatic to a later 1.3-liter turbo; Trailhawk is the Trail Rated one. Clear open recalls by VIN, and treat the Fiat 500X twin as the same hardware family when you compare parts and campaigns.
Car and Driver and Jeep's own messaging confirmed the Renegade and Fiat 500X would not continue in the U.S. past 2023, with Compass becoming the entry Jeep. MotorTrend's 2023 Renegade review still lists starting MSRPs in the high $29,000s for Latitude 4x4, which is why late cars often sat with discounts. If you want the next size up that Jeep kept selling, our used Jeep Compass buying guide is the cleaner long-term bet for parts and residual value.
Engines, the 9-speed, and Trailhawk
Early cars (roughly 2015-2018) mixed a 160-hp 1.4-liter turbo with a six-speed manual and a 180-hp 2.4-liter Tigershark with the 9-speed automatic, per Car and Driver's 2018 review. For 2019, MotorTrend and Car and Driver's instrumented test document the new 1.3-liter turbo at 177 hp and about 200 lb-ft, with the 2.4 becoming the base mill on lower trims and the manual gone. By the final 2023 U.S. year, MotorTrend says every Renegade used the 1.3T and 9-speed; Trailhawk still carried Active Drive Low and Trail Rated hardware.
Car and Driver's 2019 1.3T 4x4 hit 60 mph in 9.0 seconds -- not quick. Trailhawk is the trim that actually earns the off-road pitch with skid plates, different tires, and crawl-oriented gearing. Limited and Latitude are pavement Jeeps with Easter-egg interior stickers. Cargo is modest: MotorTrend cites about 18.5 cubic feet behind the rear seat and 50.8 folded. We've sat in Trailhawks that felt planted on a dirt path and then clumsy on a highway on-ramp; buy it for the trail modes, not for sporty road manners.
Renegade recalls to clear by VIN
We queried NHTSA for 2015-2023 Renegade on October 15, 2026. Early automatic cars sit under campaign 16V529000 for 9-speed transmission sensor-cluster crimps that can make the gearbox shift unexpectedly. Campaign 18V731000 covers certain 2017-2018 flex-fuel 2.4 Renegades for a fuel-pump pressure loss under high load and heat. Later air bag campaigns matter on many years: 19V287000 (2019 ORC software), and 24V510000 for 2019-2023 Renegade (and related Fiat/Alfa models) where a seat-belt buckle switch may keep the front air bag from deploying as designed.
Campaign 24V918000 covers certain 2021-2023 Renegades built with the wrong reverse-light assembly. Start at the NHTSA recalls feed for a 2019 Renegade, change the year, and walk the VIN with our Jeep recall check by VIN guide. Decode the plate with vPIC or our Jeep VIN decoder so the engine and build year match the ad -- Italian-built Renegades and 500X twins share a lot of campaigns.
End of U.S. sales, title, and the report
Because U.S. sales stopped after 2023, service is still a Jeep/dealer network job, but future software campaigns may feel slower than on Compass. Match title brands carefully; a cheap Renegade with a salvage line is not a bargain if you need insurance. Rental history is less common than on a Kicks, but fleet and short-term lease cars still exist -- our rental car history on CARFAX note shows the flag.
On cost, a CARFAX through us is about $5.50 as a guest or $4.50 as a member, and a CARFAX plus AutoCheck bundle is about $6.75, while retail sits around $39.99 to $44.99 as of mid October 2026. Confirm at checkout. We are a licensed reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck, or Experian. Be wary of "$1 trial" report sites and seller PDFs. Pull a real CARFAX report on the VIN yourself before you sign.
