Used Lincoln Corsair Buying Guide: Grand Touring Recalls and Best Years

A used gas Lincoln Corsair is a reasonable, comfortable buy as long as its camera and seat belt chime recalls are closed; the Grand Touring plug-in hybrid is the version that needs real scrutiny, because 2021-2024 cars are covered by a high-voltage battery cell recall (24V954) whose interim instruction is to stop charging. If you want the least drama, a 2024 or 2025 2.0-liter car keeps the 2023 facelift's bigger screens and showed just four to six API recall entries, against 16 to 22 for each of the 2020-2022 years. Check every one by VIN, since the Corsair has collected more recall entries than its quiet personality suggests.

I pulled every Corsair model year from the NHTSA recalls API on October 15, 2026, and the 2021 list alone runs to 22 entries. Many of those overlap with the Ford Escape, which makes sense: Car and Driver notes the Corsair borrows its platform from the Escape, with enough Lincoln trim on top that you would not guess it from the driver's seat.

Corsair years and engines

The Corsair replaced the MKC for 2020. According to C/D's 2020 review, it launched with a 250-hp turbo 2.0-liter (front- or all-wheel drive) or a 280-hp 2.3-liter that came with AWD standard, both with an eight-speed automatic. In C/D's testing the two engines were nearly identical to 60 mph, 6.1 versus 6.0 seconds, so do not pay a big premium for the 2.3 just for speed.

The Grand Touring plug-in arrived for 2021. C/D's 2021 Grand Touring review lists a 2.5-liter four with two electric motors for 266 hp total, a CVT, standard AWD, and 28 miles of electric range. The current C/D page quotes up to 27 miles, and its own 75-mph highway test managed 19. For 2023, the facelift brought a 13.2-inch touchscreen and a standard 12.3-inch digital gauge display, and the 2.3-liter was dropped. C/D says the Corsair has been largely unchanged since 2024.

One more thing to know right now. In August 2026, C/D reported that Corsair production in the U.S. had ended as Ford retools its Louisville plant, and that Lincoln is expected to import the Corsair from China starting with the 2027 model year. That does not change a used 2020-2026 car, but it may shift what dealers do with trade-ins and lease returns over the next year.

The plug-in hybrid recall pile

The Grand Touring's recalls are the reason this guide exists, so here is the actual list the API returned. 22V331 covered 2021 cars with insufficient welds inside the high-voltage battery; the fix was a new battery. 22V149 covered 2022 cars whose battery may fail and cause a sudden loss of drive power, also a battery replacement. Then 22V484 was expanded and replaced by 23V380, covering 2021-2023 Corsairs with the 2.5-liter hybrid engine: if the engine fails, oil and fuel vapor may collect near hot parts and start a fire. On 2023 Corsairs dealers replace the engine long-block; on the others they update software and replace the engine if a bearing failure shows up. Ford then needed 25V345 for cars repaired incorrectly under 23V380.

On top of that, 24V330 and its redo 25V133 fix hybrid control software that can shift the car into neutral. And 24V954 covers 2021-2024 Corsairs with a battery cell defect that can cause an internal short. Owners were advised not to charge until the fix, which is a battery control module software update and a new pack if needed. Letters went out May 30, 2025. So look, a Grand Touring that has had all of this done may actually have a newer engine or battery than its age suggests. One that has not is a car you should not plug into your garage outlet.

Gas Corsair recalls by year

The gas cars are mostly about cameras and wiring. 2020-2022 cars with the 360-degree camera show a chain of video recalls (21V735, 23V022, 23V342 and the redo 25V159), plus 25V048 and 25V510, the second for water getting into rearview camera connectors. Cars with Revel audio have 22V953 and 25V338 for a seat belt chime that may not sound. 2020 cars have 20V470 for rear coil springs that can contact the toe link brackets, 2021 cars have 21V625 (fuel delivery module leak) and 21V011 (rear drive unit low on lubricant), and 2023 cars have 24V634 for fuel injectors missing O-ring support discs. Newer cars have 25V688 (water in 2024-2025 tail lamps), 25V343 (an optional block heater that can overheat on 2023 and 2025 cars), 25V862 (2025-2026 rear seat belt retractors) and 26V122, an EGR valve on 2025 cars that can cause a loss of drive power. Warranty, test drive and paperwork

C/D lists the Corsair's coverage at 4 years or 50,000 miles basic and 6 years or 70,000 powertrain, with hybrid parts covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles, and no free scheduled maintenance. Have a Lincoln dealer confirm the in-service date, since a 2021 car may be close to the end of the powertrain term. Use our Lincoln VIN decoder notes to confirm engine and drive, and if the Lincoln price bump does not feel worth it, read the used Ford Escape buying guide, because many of the same recalls apply. About the history report

Lease returns and loaners are common with small luxury SUVs, and the report shows that pattern faster than any seller will. Through us, a CARFAX costs around $5.50 for guests and $4.50 for members, or about $6.75 paired with AutoCheck, against the $39.99 to $44.99 people often pay retail. Prices do shift, so confirm at checkout. We are a licensed reseller with no affiliation to CARFAX, AutoCheck or Experian. CARFAX describes its report contents, and NMVTIS is the federal title-brand database.
