To check Lexus recalls on a used RX, NX, ES, GX, or LX, run the 17-digit VIN on NHTSA's recall lookup and on Lexus's recall search, then ask a Lexus dealer for the campaign history printout. Anything listed as incomplete is a free repair the car is still owed. In mid October 2026, the camera software campaigns on newer NX and RX models, plus the V35A engine debris recall on LX and GX, are the ones we would clear first.
Lexus recalls are filed by Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing, so the paperwork often lists Toyota numbers next to Lexus codes such as 26LA02. When we pulled Lexus recall filings on October 13, 2026, several of the biggest campaigns covered Toyota trucks and Lexus SUVs in the same document. That is normal for this brand family.
How to run a Lexus VIN and read the status
Read the VIN off the lower windshield and the driver door sticker and make sure they match. Our walkthrough on checking recalls by VIN on NHTSA explains each status line. Then repeat the search on Lexus's recall page. Incomplete means a fix exists and nobody has done it. Remedy not yet available means the defect is confirmed but parts or software are still rolling out. Completed should match a repair order with the campaign code and a date. Decode the VIN with our Lexus VIN decoder too, because recall populations are built by trim and production date, and a listing that says "2024 RX 350" is not proof of either.
Camera software recalls on NX, RX and TX
NHTSA recall 26V-162, filed March 18, 2026, covers about 144,200 vehicles: certain 2022-2025 Lexus NX350 and NX250, 2023-2026 RX350, and 2024-2026 TX350 models. The rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse, which fails FMVSS 111. Dealers update the camera software or replace the camera. Owner letters went out May 15, 2026. Lexus codes are 26LB02 and 26LA02.
A related, much larger campaign is 25V-744, covering about 1,024,407 Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru Solterra vehicles with a Panoramic View Monitor. A software error may freeze or blank the rearview image in reverse. Dealers update the parking assist software. Owner letters went out January 2, 2026. Honestly, a seller who says "we checked the backup camera once" is not answering either of these campaigns.
Air bag, seat belt and head restraint campaigns
25V-040 covers only about 1,716 vehicles, but it matters if you are looking at a 2023 RX350 or 2023-2024 NX250 or NX350 that was previously repaired under 23V-480. An electrical connection inside the steering column spiral cable may be insufficiently welded, so the driver's air bag can deactivate. Dealers inspect and replace the spiral cable as needed. Letters went out March 17, 2025. 25V-059 covers about 40,922 2025 NX and 2024-2025 RX hybrids and gas models whose second-row center seat belt webbing may be damaged. 24V-482 covers about 11,418 2024-2025 NX and 2024 RX models whose front head restraints can be removed without pressing the lock button.
LX and GX shoppers: the V35A engine debris recall
If the shortlist includes an LX or a 2024 GX with the V35A engine, read 25V-767. It covers about 126,691 2022-2024 Tundra and Lexus LX vehicles plus 2024 Lexus GX models. Manufacturing debris may contaminate the engine and cause main bearings to fail, which can stall the truck and cut drive power. The campaign expands earlier recall 24V-381. Dealers inspect the number-one main bearing with software and drive data and replace the engine if needed. Owner letters went out August 28, 2026. What a history report adds, and what it costs
A recall lookup will not tell you about a salvage brand, a flood title, or an odometer problem. CARFAX says its reports cover title brands, odometer readings, ownership, and reported accidents, and our guide on how to read a CARFAX report walks through those lines. Treat NHTSA and the Lexus dealer as the source of truth for recalls. As of mid October 2026, a CARFAX report through us runs about $5.50 as a guest or about $4.50 as a member, and a CARFAX plus AutoCheck bundle about $6.75, versus roughly $39.99 to $44.99 at retail. Prices change, so confirm at checkout. We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck, or Experian. If a seller texts you a recall screenshot but will not read you the VIN, assume the screenshot was edited.
