Lighthouse FCU Auto Loans: APR Tiers and CARFAX

Lighthouse Federal lists auto APRs effective 11/05/2026 from 5.74% for newer cars up to 63 months. Its rate page does not set a mandatory CARFAX policy, so ask what underwriting needs before you buy a report for the lender.

I read Lighthouse's auto-loan page and its rebrand page for this November 5, 2026 guide. The rate table is marked Effective 11/05/2026. Look, the lowest figures assume top-tier credit and the published discount stack, so treat them as floors. The page is still a useful dated reference for model-year bands and terms.

Match the model year to the right band

The table shows 2026-2024 cars at 5.74% up to 63 months, 6.04% for 64-75 months, 6.74% for 76-84 months and 7.49% for 85-96 months. Cars from 2023-2019 start at 5.99% up to 63 months, then 6.49% and 7.04% on longer terms. 2018-2017 cars show 7.14% up to 63 months, and 2016-2015 plus 2014 cars show 10.14% up to 48 months. Ask which row your VIN falls into before comparing payments.

Separate discounts from the base rate

The page says advertised APR includes up to a 0.30% discount built from three 0.10% factors: an open consumer checking account with regular positive balance, automatic payment from a Lighthouse account set up with the credit union, and an active consumer credit card. Transfers set up only in online banking do not qualify for the auto-pay piece. Ask what your quote is with and without each factor. The lowest line assumes all of them.

Use the payment example carefully

The page illustrates a $15,000 loan at 6.29% over 63 months with an estimated payment of $307.05 including optional debt protection. That is an illustration, not your approval. Taxes, fees and add-ons change the amount financed. Our loan-to-value explainer explains why the balance can outrun the car's value. Compare lenders on the same amount and term.

Ask whether a history report is required

The rate page reviewed does not name a required CARFAX or AutoCheck product, report age or purchaser. Ask whether Lighthouse orders its own history or needs title documents before funding. Our credit-union branded-title checklist helps you frame collateral questions without inventing policy. A seller PDF is not independent proof of a clean title. Match the VIN on the car, title and application.

Confirm the institution and former name

Lighthouse's official history page states Northeast Credit Union is now Lighthouse Credit Union and describes a charter evolution toward a federal credit union. Older Northeast branding in search results is history, not a second lender. Use the official lighthousecu.org site before sharing an application. Confirm membership eligibility there too.

Plan the lien and payoff sequence early

If the seller still owes money, ask how payoff and title delivery work with funding. Our private-seller lien guide and lien-payoff steps organize the questions, but Lighthouse must approve its own process. Request a current payoff through a verified channel. A history-report line cannot replace an actual lien release.

Keep the car checks separate from approval

A loan approval does not certify the car's condition or the seller's ownership story. The NYC consumer-agency used-car guidance tells buyers to get a history report and an independent mechanic, and the federal Buyers Guide rule describes dealer disclosures rather than any credit-union CARFAX mandate. Private sales follow a different disclosure setting. Use our inspection checklist to define the mechanical work before you release funds.

Before you authorize funding

Ask Lighthouse to confirm the model-year row, which discounts apply and any history-document rule for your car. So, ask for a dated written approval tied to the actual VIN, amount financed and term. Keep the rate quote, collateral answer, purchase agreement and any payoff instructions together. The CFPB auto-loan resources explain how to shop and compare offers; they do not set this lender's underwriting policy.

We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck or Experian. Guest reports have been about $5.50, member reports about $4.50 and a two-report bundle about $6.75; confirm the price at checkout because it can change. A report can miss unreported work, so keep the inspection appointment even when the history looks quiet.
