A used Lincoln Navigator is Ford Expedition luxury with a twin-turbo V-6 and a quieter cabin, so shop the 2018 redesign as the modern truck and treat 2015-2017 as a different generation. In mid October 2026, clear shared Ford-family campaigns such as park pawl 26V-402 on 2018-2021 trucks and seat belt pretensioner 26V-344 on 2018-2022 trucks before you fall for Black Label leather. Navigator-specific options matter; do not buy it as a badge-only Expedition.
Car and Driver lists a 440-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6, a 10-speed automatic, standard all-wheel drive on current trucks, BlueCruise hands-free driving, and up to about 8,700 pounds of towing. The long-wheelbase Navigator L adds cargo behind the third row. Decode the VIN with our Lincoln VIN decoder, then compare the Ford twin in our used Ford Expedition buying guide and the GM luxury competitors via our used GMC Yukon buying guide or used Toyota Sequoia buying guide.
2015-2017 versus 2018 and newer
The 2018 Navigator reinvented the cabin and powertrain story. Twin-turbo V-6 power replaced the older truck's character, and later refreshes added the panoramic screen and BlueCruise. Consumer Reports is useful for ownership context once recalls are closed. Black Label is Lincoln's top trim with richer materials and longer complimentary maintenance when new; on the used market it is still just a trim code until service records prove the car was cared for. So, our take: a 2019-2021 Reserve or Black Label with documented recall work can be a strong buy if the price reflects open interim campaigns that Ford has not finished yet.
Recalls to clear by VIN
NHTSA recall 26V-402 covers about 741,195 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, including certain 2018-2021 Navigators, whose transmission park pawl may engage while the vehicle is moving. Interim letters went out in July 2026 with a fuller remedy still rolling out. 26V-344 covers about 419,967 2018-2022 Expedition and Navigator vehicles whose front seat belt pretensioners may lock the belt; it replaces earlier recalls 24V-099 and 25V-197, so older "fixed" paperwork may not settle it. On newer trucks, 25V-314 covers about 273,789 2022-2024 Expedition and Navigator vehicles whose front brake lines can rub and leak. Early 2018 trucks also sat inside fuel pump campaign 18V-392. On 2022-2025 Navigators, also watch Image Processing Module campaigns that can blank the rearview image and driver-assist features; those show up in Lincoln filings even when the PDF header says Ford Motor Company.
Look, a seller who says "Ford fixed all that" on a covered 2019 is wrong about at least the park pawl line until the remedy is actually available and completed on that VIN.
BlueCruise, L length and ownership costs
BlueCruise is Lincoln hands-free highway assist. It needs map coverage and working cameras the same way Super Cruise does on GM trucks. A used Navigator with an expired map subscription is still driveable; it just will not do the hands-free trick until you pay and update. Navigator L is the long body for cargo behind the third row. If your garage is tight, measure before you fall in love with the L badge.
Fleet history, title and price
Navigators show up in corporate fleets and airport black-car service. A recall screen will not say that. Read ownership and title lines carefully, and crawl the cargo area for water stains. CARFAX says its reports cover title brands, odometer readings, ownership and reported accidents. As of mid October 2026, a CARFAX report through us is about $5.50 as a guest or about $4.50 as a member, and a CARFAX plus AutoCheck bundle is about $6.75, against roughly $39.99 to $44.99 at retail. Confirm at checkout. We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck, or Experian. Honestly, Black Label embroidery does not fix an open park pawl line or a brake line that still needs a clip. Price the truck for the incomplete work and the dealer visits, not for the cabin ambient lighting. A pre-purchase inspection should include the twin-turbo for oil leaks, the air suspension if equipped, and the panoramic screen for dead pixels before you wire a deposit.
