A used Lucid Air is a 2022-on Arizona-built luxury EV sedan sold as Pure, Touring, Grand Touring and (early on) Dream Edition, with Sapphire arriving later as the tri-motor flagship. For a roomy long-range sedan we would shop a later Pure or Touring only after contactor, camera and seat-heater campaigns are closed by VIN. On any 2022-2023 Air, proving the software and hardware remedies are done is the first job, ahead of paint and wheel talk.
We checked Lucid recall filings, review notes and vPIC decodes on October 14, 2026. A 2022 Grand Touring pattern starting 50EA1GBA decoded to Casa Grande, Arizona as an Air BEV, a Dream pattern 50EA1DAA came back the same plant, a 2023 Touring pattern 50EA1TEA listed Touring trim, and a 2023 Pure pattern 50EA1PFA decoded to Pure. Decode yours with our Lucid VIN decoder, clear campaigns with our Lucid recall check by VIN walkthrough, and if you want a different used luxury EV benchmark read the used Tesla Model S buying guide.
Years and trims that actually matter
Car and Driver treats the Air as a long-range luxury sedan with in-house motors and big packs. Early 2022 cars launched with Dream Edition, Grand Touring and Touring; Pure arrived as an AWD dual-motor for 2023, then shifted toward a single-motor rear-drive layout for 2024 in the lineup story reviewers describe. MotorTrend and Consumer Reports both cover the Air as a high-range sedan competing with Model S money. EPA range varies hard by trim and wheels, so read the window sticker on the truck you are buying rather than a brochure screenshot from a different year.
Contactor, camera and heater recalls
This is the deal-breaker section. 23V-110 covers 2022-2023 Air cars whose electrically activated contact switches can open and cut drive power. 23V-520 covers rearview camera image failures on certain software builds, and 23V-521 covers wiper arm nuts that can loosen. 23V-708 covers rear seat heater temperature monitoring that can fail and overheat the seats. Early strut snap-ring work sits under 22V-090 on some 2022 cars. Ask the seller for the Lucid service printout on that VIN, not a verbal "software was updated."
Title, fleet use and price
A recall screen will not show a flood title, an odometer rollback or a prior demo life. Look, a seller PDF with no VIN on the page is not a history report. Many early Airs moved through demos and company pools, so read the ownership lines. CARFAX says its reports draw on title, odometer, ownership and accident records. As of mid October 2026, a CARFAX report through us runs about $5.50 as a guest or about $4.50 as a member, and a CARFAX plus AutoCheck bundle is about $6.75, versus roughly $39.99 to $44.99 at retail. Confirm at checkout. We are a licensed CARFAX and AutoCheck reseller, not affiliated with CARFAX, AutoCheck, or Experian.
What we would actually bid on
Honestly, a later Pure or Touring with closed contactor and camera campaigns, one or two private owners and a clean title is the easy path. An early 2022 Dream or Grand Touring can still be fine after Lucid closes the hardware and software remedies, but only if the dealer paperwork names this VIN. Skip any sedan whose seller wants you to "just ignore the camera blanking" without showing the recall is closed. That is a temporary shrug, not an ownership plan. Also check tire date codes and glass for ADAS camera calibration after any windshield swap.
We've seen listings that boast "range king" and stay silent on every open campaign. Pair the Lucid decode with the NHTSA screen before you talk wire money, and confirm remaining high-voltage battery warranty dates in writing.
Also confirm DC fast-charge behavior on a short test route if you can. Early Air software builds had enough camera and contactor drama that a quiet 20-minute drive plus a reverse-camera check is cheap insurance before you sign.
